For the lively, free-spirited Ligea, life is but a dream. She's a gil-obsessed wanderer who's always on the lookout for things that she deems fun and exciting. Her playful, carefree personality means she's quick to tease others, and she never seems to get upset or offended; she'll simply laugh it off. However, the downside to her perpetual state of jubilation is that you never really know what's going on in her head. She tends to be blunt and claims that all she wants is to have fun and live life to the fullest, but her constant cheery demeanor and laissez-faire attitude when it comes to serious situations can sometimes be...unsettling.

Although she may sound like a pretty affable person, Ligea is incredibly self-centered and doesn't seem to care for the well-being of others. The driving factor for all her decisions is whether it'll be fun or not, and she will never do anything for others unless it benefits her in some way. When she's bored, she gets frustrated and starts to cause trouble; the speed in which she'll lose interest in something is always changing and her behaviour can be pretty unpredictable. That being said, while she will often take things too far or do things that are socially inappropriate, she'd never intentionally bring serious harm to someone. She's always got a smile on her face, and it's never a dull moment when she's around. For better or worse.

In terms of interests, there are two things Ligea loves more than anything; the first being gil. After living a nomadic lifestyle for the entirety of her childhood and adolescence, she's become enthralled with Eorzea's bustling city states and the way money makes the world go round. She loves to take on odd jobs for both the thrill and the opportunity to make a profit. There's very little things she wouldn't do for coin, and when she's paid for a task, you can rest assured that she'll complete it with utmost care.

The second is the arcane arts. Ligea has always adored the concept of thaumaturgy, and once she was no longer subject to her family's whims, she began to invest most of her time researching the dark arts and their history, eventually beginning to practice it herself and discovering her natural talent for commanding her aether, as well as her innate aethersense. Even though she seems like a bit of an airhead who can't take anything seriously, she's secretly an incredibly skilled mage who is very passionate about her art. When she's not working, she spends her time buried in a mountain of tomes, researching and developing new ways to cast spells.

Background

Ligea originates from the Azim Steppe. She is of the Dazkar tribe, where household duties (like cooking, cleaning, and taking care of children) are handled by the men, while hunting and scavenging are the responsibilities of the women. Hence, Ligea spent her childhood going out and hunting with her mother in order to provide for her father and her 2 younger brothers. In fact, her birthname is Ulaan, meaning "red", in reference to the colour of the blood from the tip of her mother's arrows.
Even from an early age, Ligea was incredibly defiant when it came to the lifestyle of her tribe and her clan as a whole, and even denounced their spiritual beliefs. She found hunting a chore, and would refuse to abide by her family's rules, no matter what they did or said.

Her family struggled to control her behaviour, and at the ripe old age of 12, Ligea had decided that she had enough and made the decision to leave her homeland permanently. With nothing except a small sack of food, a spear, and her survival skills, she wandered off in the middle of the night and began her life of total freedom. She changed her name in order to leave behind any connection to her homeland before sailing off from the Ruby Sea.

...Although, there are complications with the tale she tells. She refuses to elaborate on how she was able to pay the Ruby Tithe and immediately start fending for herself at such a young age, and is very vague when talking about her upbringing. It's almost as if she's trying to hide something...but until the day she comes clean, the finer details are shrouded in mystery.

Hooks

· Thaumaturgy: While Ligea may seem like she's a few sandwiches short of a picnic, she's an incredibly skilled mage with a passion for magical research and its' applications. She loves to discuss her art and show off her spellcasting prowess to whoever she can, and will never turn down opportunities to learn more about the history of magic; especially if it involves the War of the Magi.
(Note: She is not a black mage.)

· Wanderer for hire: For years, Ligea has been motivated by her endless thirst for fun and adventure, travelling all around Eorzea and taking on whatever odd jobs she can find. She'll do anything if you pay her, and does her job swiftly and discreetly. Someone giving you trouble? Looking for a maid to clean your filthy, filthy house? Want a gnome to stand in your yard for hours? Need a dinner buddy?Ligea does it all - for a price.(Note: send an OOC /tell beforehand to discuss cost and what exactly the job is. She does not do assassinations / anything that involves the loss of another party's life.)

· The Steppe: Despite her happy, upbeat nature, Ligea seems incredibly apprehensive about her homeland and tends to get upset when it is brought up or other Xaela question her about her tribe. She is very vague when she talks about her childhood, and whether she truly left out of boredom is a mystery. Is she really all that she seems to be, or does she hide behind a mask to bury something else? Only those who manage to rip it off will know.

· Dawn's Twilight: Currently, Ligea spends a majority of her time working for the Dawn's Twilight; a shadowy, unseen organization that specializes in researching, acquiring, and safeguarding dangerous magic relics.If you know of a magical object that could potentially threaten Eorzea and her people, Ligea seems to have a particular interest in your story...and wants every detail.(For more information on the Dawn's Twilight, our carrd is below.)

· Nyello hello - I'm Maria (she/her). I'm a trad goth in my 20s. I'm a lover of video games and music, especially - you guessed it - gothic rock and post-punk.

· I'm very flexible when it comes to topics, so don't be afraid to message me and shoot some ideas around. I'm not really looking for RP themes such as drugs/trafficking/voidsent (etc), though; If you want to bring those things up in conversation with her, that's fine, but don't expect Ligea to get involved in any way. I want to keep things light.

· Ligea is canonically married and monogamous - which means no relationships and no ERP. I am also married to her spouse IRL - so please don't approach me looking for an actual OOC relationship.

· Even though I have more than a decade of RP experience, I am REALLY bad at approaching people and tend to get nervous. Please be patient and don't be afraid to approach first, because chances are I'm too shy to do it myself :(

· I'm very much someone who writes in paragraphs (2 max). While I might be a fast typer, I understand that not everyone wants to read textwalls. If you'd like me to keep my responses short, don't hesitate to let me know!

· Unless my RP tag is on, I am not in character - and IC does not equal OOC. What I say with my tag on has nothing to do with who I am IRL and vice versa.

· I'm not going to tolerate any sort of drama OOC. If you start to act up, I'm going to block you immediately.

· I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and a bunch of other chronic conditions, so the state of my health is always fluctuating. I have a tendency to disappear when I'm extremely ill, so if you were looking for anything long-term, please keep that in mind.

· Don't take it personally if you message me and I tell you I'm not in the mood for RP. I'm in chronic pain and when it gets bad, it's hard for me to concentrate on social interaction and I need time to myself.

· If you need to suddenly bow out and would prefer to do a quick recap of what happened / continue later, that's totally fine! I might need to do the same if I suddenly start to feel sick, and I apologize for that in advance. Just let me know how you're feeling and we'll go from there :)

· I have Mare! I don't mind sharing my code, even if we're not going to be RPing; however, I would prefer not to sync up if the nature of your appearance is heavily NSFW. I'm not going to judge, I just don't want to see that sort of thing as I'm running around doing content. Please keep in mind that all of my characters share a code, so you might get a random download bar from one of my alts if you happen to run into them. Shoot me a tell and ask about the moon!
